Dr. Buttrill was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She attended Brown University where she obtained a Sc.B. in Biology with a focus in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University in 2010. Following graduation, she completed a one year internship at a secondary referral hospital in Massachusetts that comprised of Emergency and Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, and General Practice rotations. She practiced as a relief veterinarian before moving closer to family in Colorado. Her interests include minimally invasive soft tissue surgery, emergency and critical care, pain management, as well as wildlife and exotics. She and her husband share their home with a very smart mix breed dog and two humorous cats. She enjoys yoga, rock climbing, scuba diving, pottery, wine, and the culinary arts.
